Hi Friend,

Have you noticed how often the word "system" is used to refer to things God has created? The planets in orbit around the sun are referred to as the solar system. Your body is composed of several systems that keep you alive; the digestive, circulatory, nervous, reproductive and endocrine to name a few.

They were designed before any of us walked on the earth. We're all privileged inheritors of systems that have existed for a long time, in some cases maybe billions of years.

The wise man learns what the systems are and how to live in harmony with them. The Mendelian Laws of Genetics come to mind. Gregor Mendel did not create the laws. He just discovered some principles and helped improve the world's agricultural production by showing us how do live within a preexisting system.

Better to adapt than attempt to change the external world. Some people have a mental image of how the world should be and demand the world change to conform to them. It's a self-defeating exercise.

There was a news report some time ago of a scientist who seriously recommended the destruction of the moon. In his opinion the moon causes too many problems for the earth and since the United States possesses the nuclear capability of obliterating it we should take advantage of our power.

I'm glad sane men still have power over the nuclear button.

Another system is the one God designed for us to worship Him which includes the weekly and annual Sabbaths. "And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy...." (Genesis 2:3 NIV) The Sabbath is part of the system God made for His followers to worship Him. Those who advocate a change in the God designed system of worship are like the scientist wanting to destroy the moon. There is more to the world than they see. I will be convinced they can change the day of worship after they demonstrate they can change the laws of genetics, the reproductive system and the orbit of the planets around the sun. Until then I'll conform to the God designed system He revealed to the Prophets.

Until next time,
